Mongswa, The Animal That Eats Twigs

Medium: Etching
Plate/Image Size: 27 x 24 inches
Edition Size: 20
Printer: Artist
2 plate etching with multiple colors of ink at one time on each plate. Dupont fillm used to add chart and map.
Artist's Comments:
This image presents 108 life forms which are part of the Superior National Forest of northern Minnesota. Each animal, plant, and bird is numbered. The chart offers identification and location using the coordinates of “S U P E R I O R” vertically and “N A T I O N A L” horizontally. The theme which I hope to convey using the imposing profile of Mongswa, an Algonquin word for moose, is the interdependence which makes
survival possible.
